Seven first-team Manchester United players are sidelined ahead of the Bournemouth fixture, The Independent reports - and the problems go beyond the treatment room.[^1]

Manager Michael Carrick said on Friday that his players must improve mentally to end the club's winless run, The Independent reports.[^2] That is the coach pointing at mindset, not just fitness.

Wayne Rooney went further. On the United Stand podcast, the Daily Mail reports, Rooney called Manchester United players selfish, said they act like babies, and accused them of deflecting blame instead of taking responsibility.[^3] Seven unavailable players. A winless run. A manager demanding mental improvement. Rooney's words on top of all that suggest the conduct and fitness problems are hitting at the same time.
